After the Levante, Maserati is presenting a more compact SUV, the Grecale, in 2022. A year later, the brand with the trident offers it in a 100% electric Folgore version. The Italian combines elegant styling with a rather attractive spec sheet, which can boast a power level of up to 550 hp. This will be enough to titillate the Porsche Macan, which has become definitively electric.
The Maserati Grecale Folgore differs only slightly from its combustion engine version, which is still distinguished by a sleek but stocky silhouette. At the front, the grille adorned with Maserati's iconic trident features dummy air intakes, while Folgore lettering is placed above the three famous vents on the fenders. The headlamps have a design similar to those of the Granturismo coupe. At the rear, the horizontal lights have a slight curvature at their ends, reminiscent of the "boomerang" lights of the 3200 GT. The absence of exhaust pipes leaves no doubt that the Italian is powered by electricity. The Grecale is based on wheels ranging from 19 to 21 inches with a design specific to the electric variant. All this in order to work on the aerodynamics of the SUV, and consequently offer more range. Because the size is rather imposing: 4.87 m long, 1.95 m wide and 1.65 m high. The wheelbase is also generous at 2.90 m. Finally, as for the trunk, Maserati announces a cargo volume of 535 dm3.
Inside, the Maserati Grecale relies on a neat presentation and exemplary assembly quality. The dashboard is minimalist, embellished by two touch screens: a 12.3-inch screen for infotainment and a second 8.8-inch screen to control the comfort functions (air conditioning, seat or steering wheel heating, etc.). A third 12.3-inch panel dedicated to digital instrumentation appears behind the steering wheel. The watch is also up to date, abandoning the hands for a small digital display. The interior ambience is enhanced by customisable ambient lighting as well as a panoramic roof that floods the cabin with light.
The Maserati Grecale Folgore catalogue is content with a single proposal. The Italian SUV is equipped with two electric units (one per axle) with a total of 550 hp. This cavalry is powered by a large battery with a capacity of 105 kWh, announcing up to 500 km of range according to the WLTP cycle. Thanks to a maximum charging power of 150 kW, regeneration from 20 to 80 percent is promised in 29 minutes.
