After the EV6 streamlined SUV and the EV9 large 7-seater SUV, Kia is continuing its electric offensive, this time targeting the urban vehicle market with the EV3. The small SUV is thus launching an attack on the Peugeot E-2008 and Volvo EX30, but also the Volkswagen ID.3 and Renault Mégane E-Tech electric compact sedans.
With the EV3, Kia has not tried the new and has naturally drawn from its own catalog in terms of style. Thus, the EV3 could be similar to a pocket-sized EV9. At the front, the urban SUV proudly displays its "Tiger Face" grille, emblematic of the Korean manufacturer's new visual identity. The headlamps are thin and tapered, while the sides have pronounced creases that add a sense of robustness. Finally, the 19-inch wheels with a futuristic design reinforce the muscular appearance of the SUV. At 4.30 m, 1.85 m wide and 1.56 m high, the EV3 has dimensions in the upper middle of the segment. Kia promises neat aerodynamics with a drag coefficient of 0.267.
The interior of the Kia EV3 reflects a sleek and technological atmosphere. The small SUV inherits the digital panoply of its big brother EV9 consisting of two 12.3-inch screens separated by a small 5.3-inch panel, dedicated to the heating and air conditioning interface, which can be adjusted via physical controls. The interior is full of recycled materials. The cabin offers legroom, thanks to a generous wheelbase of 2.68 m. Finally, the trunk offers a load volume with a capacity of 460 dm3.
Taking over the group's E-GMP base, the Kia EV3 is equipped with a strong 204 hp electric unit. The latter is powered by a choice of a 58.3 kWh or 81.4 kWh battery. While the first allows you to travel 410 km according to the WLTP cycle, the second promises up to 600 km of range. In both cases, DC charging takes 31 minutes to go from 10 to 80 percent.
