Bought by the KG group, the Korean manufacturer Ssangyong has changed its name to KGM. A new beginning inaugurated by the launch of the Torres EVX, a 100% electric version of the eponymous combustion SUV.
Stylistically, the Torres EVX moves away from the combustion model. A front that looks more modern thanks to its dotted light signature at the front, which is reminiscent of that of a certain Jeep Wagoneer S, while the silhouette of the SUV is in the same vein as the Dacia Duster. A square, robust look, ready for adventure. On the other hand, the dimensions are much more generous than those of the Romanian SUV with 4.71 m long, 1.89 m wide and 1.72 m high.
In the cabin, the dashboard features two screens in a row with the same 12.3-inch diagonal, and that's it. The floating centre console houses some storage space as well as a small gear selector at the top. Rear passengers enjoy decent skill thanks to a wheelbase of 2.68 m, while the trunk can swallow up 839 dm3.
Despite its adventurous look, the Torres EVX does not have four-wheel drive variants in its range, since only one rear-wheel drive offer is in the SUV's catalogue. It is based on a 73.4 kWh battery from BYD, and a strong 207 hp electric unit. KGM announces a range of 462 km according to the WLTP cycle and a charging time of 37 minutes to go from 10 to 80% in direct current (120 kW).
