The Cupra Terramar is in a way the replacement for the Ateca, symbolizing at the same time the meteoric rise of the brand that became independent in 2018. The Iberian SUV intends to appeal to families. To do this, it relies on expressive styling and engines with different levels of electrification.
Prefigured by its concept unveiled in 2022, the Cupra Terramar displays a very expressive style. It is now the trademark of the Spanish manufacturer, the SUV inherits a plunging front end, like a shark's nose, where triangles are affixed to its headlights. A piercing gaze, like that of his brothers and sisters Tavascan, Formentor and Leon. Follow the floating roof and you will come across a light signature in the same vein as the rest of the range, which is characterized in particular by an illuminated logo. In terms of size, the Terramar is 4.52 m long, 1.86 m wide and 1.59 m high.
If the exterior styling is specific to Cupra, inside, the affiliation with the Volkswagen Group is more noticeable. This is particularly the case with the technological equipment, which combines a 10.5-inch digital instrument cluster behind the steering wheel and a 12.9-inch diagonal touchscreen at the top of the centre console. Below the latter is the "backbone" marking the separation between the driver and his passenger. A common theme with the Tavascan, but less impressive than in the latter. Finally, families can look forward to the sliding rear seat, which can accommodate three medium-sized adults. This obviously has an impact on the carrying capacity, which varies between 540 and 630 dm3. Note that the boot volume decreases on plug-in hybrid models, due to the battery housing. It is then necessary to count between 400 and 490 dm3 depending on the progress of the second rank.
* 400 to 490 dm3 in plug-in hybrid
In essence, the Cupra Terramar can count on a single proposal. It is a 48V 1.5 eTSI four-cylinder micro-hybrid with 150 hp, combined with the 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox.
Like its platform cousin, the Volkswagen Tiguan, the Terramar is available in two plug-in hybrid versions called V and VZ, with 204 and 272 hp respectively. The 115 hp electric unit, common to both versions, is installed in the 6-speed eDSG automatic gearbox. In all-electric mode, the 19.7 kWh battery allows you to drive more than 100 km according to the manufacturer. The maximum charging power reaches 50 kW.
