Composed of sports cars and an SUV, the Lotus range was enriched in September 2023 with a sedan called Emeya. This 4-door with a grand touring spirit is based on a 100% electric base and promises a long-term range as well as a luxurious positioning.
To support the imposing Eletre, an electric SUV with a muscular look, Lotus has drawn the Emeya. Like all the brand's models, the name begins with an "E". A respected heritage. For the rest, it's unprecedented. Indeed, this is the very first 100% Lotus sedan. And for a start, the manufacturer has done well, starting with the sleek design. The protruding lines are legion, the headlights are on two levels and take up the design of those already glimpsed on the SUV. The hollowed sides lead to a fastback rear marked by scoops and a light strip. Well hidden, a mobile fin can deploy at high speed to generate 215 kg of downforce.
The interior of the large sedan has been the subject of all attention to adopt a finish with a reduced carbon footprint. For example, the interior trims are made from recycled materials, such as fabric scraps from the textile industry. A few elements in Nappa leather, Alcantara and aluminum still remain in order to preserve the refined appearance of the whole. The dashboard, inspired by the Eletre SUV, is pure. It incorporates a touch screen and two digital modules, one facing the driver and the other facing the passenger. Occupants are immersed in an interior with soundproofing thanks to an active anti-noise system designed to reduce road noise. Another refinement, the sedan adopts a KEF audio system with Dolby Atmos 3D sound and electronically controlled air suspension.
The engines of the Lotus Emeya
The Emeya aims to compete with the Porsche Taycan and Tesla Model S. To make itself credible, the 5.14 m long English car has put its arguments on the table with a 100% electric engine of 612 hp that can go from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds as well as a version with a power of 905 hp, which allows it to go from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.8 seconds and reach 258 km/h. To stop once launched at full power, the GT can count on carbon ceramic brakes. The set is completed by a 102 kWh battery, which should make it possible to make a "Paris-Amsterdam trip on a single charge", says the brand. The recharge from 10% to 80% is announced in 18 minutes.
