To succeed the C3 Picasso urban MPV, Citroën unveiled the C3 Aircross in 2017. To seduce, this small SUV relies on its sense of hospitality and its unique style. In 2024, it will be renewed for a second generation adopting the brand's new visual codes, and abandoning its plump side for a more cubic style. The objective is simple: to seduce families by offering a modern look and an attractive price.
Gone are the curves, the new version of the C3 Aircross relies on taut lines and a cubic silhouette in the image of its little sister the C3 and its version intended for the Indian and South American markets. Both at the front and at the rear, the lights take on a "C" shape and are connected by a black band with geometric patterns, where the new coat of arms of the manufacturer with chevrons takes pride of place in its center. On the technical side, the C3 Aircross adopts the STLA Smart platform of the Stellantis group, compatible with the driving and safety aids essential to meet the new GSR2 standard. Compared to its predecessor, the second C3 Aircross is 25 cm (4.39 m) longer, 4 cm wider (1.79 m) and 2 cm higher (1.63 m).
The interior is all about hospitality with generous space, especially for second-row passengers, as evidenced by the 2.67 m wheelbase. On the other hand, the bench seat is no longer sliding. You will have to make do with a 2/3-1/3 backrest and a one-piece seat. In the 5-seater version, the payload capacity is 460 dm3. Once the 7-seater option is ticked, this volume drops to 330 dm3 once the two seats are folded down, and drops to 40 dm3 for the 7 passengers seated. The Citroën C3 Aircross takes up the sober presentation inaugurated by the C3 with a two-part dashboard. The small digital speedometer only displays the essentials, while the 10.25-inch touchscreen dedicated to multimedia is not standard on the first trim levels. At the entry level, you have to make do with a smartphone holder.
Under the hood, the new C3 Aircross also uses the 100 hp 1.2 turbocharged three-cylinder engine combined with a manual gearbox of its little sister, but also adds to its catalog a block with a strong 136 hp micro-hybridization, necessarily associated with a six-speed e-DCS6 automatic gearbox.
On the electric side, the Citroën ë-C3 Aircross has a 113 hp electric unit powered by a 44 kWh battery, allowing it to travel up to 300 km before refuelling with electrons according to the WLTP cycle. On a 100 kW fast charging station, the SUV with the chevrons can charge from 20 to 80% in 26 minutes. The time is extended to 4 hours 50 minutes in 7 kW alternating current and 2 hours 50 minutes for 11 kW.
