Last test in Mortefontaine, everything ready to know new Car of the Year

Some days before the announcement of the Car of the Year 2024 in Geneva International Motor Show, the Jury members gathered in Mortefontaine to assess the seven finalists aspiring to the award. They have until Friday the 23rd to cast their votes.

The proving grounds of UTAC CERAM in Mortefontaine, near Paris, hosted the last tests of the jurors of the Car of the Year. They have driven and analyzed the finalist models and have received advice from specialist teams from each of the seven manufacturers.

Only one of the 7 finalist, BMW 5 Series, BYD Seal, Kia EV9, Peugeot 3008, Renault Scénic, Toyota CHR y Volvo EX30 will be able to be chosen Car of the Year in Europe 2024.

In addition to the dynamic tests, on the circuit and on the surrounding roads, senior managers from each of the 7 brands in the running attended the Mortefonaine event, such as Linda Jackson, CEO of Peugeot, and Fabrice Cambolive, CEO of Renault, to offer arguments. about why their models have to be the winner of this prestigious trophy. Car of The Year is the oldest automobile award in Europe, which is in its 61st edition.

In Mortefontaine also takes place the General Assembly of the Jury. In it Xavier Perez has been elected as vice president in place of Alberto Sabbatini who has to leave the position for reasons of age.

The 58 Jury members from 22 European Countries have until Friday 23rd to cast their votes. Each juror will apportion 25 points among at least five nominees, and will also provide a written explanation of his/her voting, a judgement which will be shown in the voting grid of this site. The winner will be announced in Geneva’s Palexpo Monday February 26 in a ceremony that will take place at 8 in the morning.
