Another fruit of PSA’s EMP2 platform, the new 308 is more compact and at the same time roomy enough and with a bigger boot. It also spares weight, with abundant use of aluminium and composites. In spite of keeping the name, there is very little in common with its predecessor. Looks and Cd coefficient have been streamlined with good results. Better perceived quality was one of the main aims of this project, so to compete with the top contenders of the segment; moderate prices too. As in the 208, the particular driving position, with small steering wheel and high positioned instrumentation –what Peugeot defines as ‘i-Cockpit’- is a love-it-or-hate-it case. Revised and new turbo engines, petrol or Diesel, cater for excellent fuel consumption figures.
