Tannistest 2015

Northern Denmark was again the stage for Tannistest, the event organized by the Nordic members of Car of the Year award to drive and compare the candidate cars; in this case, for CotY 2016.

No final list of candidates has been issued yet, but most of provisional candidates will be on it in a few weeks time. Tannistest 2015 saw 61 test cars representing the majority of the candidates, and even one –the interesting fuel cell car Toyota Mirai- that might not be candidate in the end, if it is not commercialized soon in five European countries. The change in CotY statutes ruling out a minimum production number  of a car to qualify as a candidate, implies some other exotic models as Audi R8, Ferrari 488 or McLaren are in the provisional list but didn’t show up for test in Tannis.

As for the testing specialists, 16 acting Jury members plus several former members met in Tannis to assess the cars, make pictures and perform the ‘elk test’ in the nearby Sindal airstrip; with no incidence at all, by the way. The final list of candidates for Car of the Year 2016 will be issued beginning December, and the short list of nominees, just a couple of weeks after. The winner will be announced the eve of Geneva Auto Show, 29 February 2016, at 3.00 p.m.
